The Katadyn BeFree 0.6 L is an ultralight, portable water filter that makes drinking from streams simple: fill, squeeze, and drink. The 0.1 μm EZ-Clean membrane removes 99.9999% of bacteria and 99.99% of protozoa — including Giardia and Cryptosporidium — without pumping or chemicals. The collapsible Hydrapak® flask fits in a jersey pocket and weighs only 59 g. Designed for one-person use, the BeFree 0.6 L delivers up to 2 L per minute, fast enough to drink on the move, and handles up to 1,000 L before filter replacement, depending on water quality. The 42 mm thread fits other soft flasks, so you can upgrade the bottle without replacing the filter. For larger capacity, the Katadyn BeFree 1.0 L provides the same filtration in a bigger flask. Pro tip: If water flow slows during hiking or trail running, fill the flask with fresh water and shake, or swish the filter in a clean water source. Avoid strong running water, which can damage the membrane. If flow remains slow, check for trapped air by filling, closing, shaking, and squeezing the flask until air passes through. On extended trips, carry a spare EZ-Clean membrane. Never let the filter freeze.
